Bahiagrass
control
Bahiagrass
(Paspalum notatum) is a nuisance in many landscapes. While a
useful grass for pastures or erosion control, the
tall, rapidly growing bahiagrass seedheads make it unattractive
in lawns.
I offer spot treatments of small patches of bahiagrass or will treat
your entire lawn if bahiagrass is widespread. Bahiagrass is difficult
to control, and chemical applications are best made in the spring
before the first seedheads emerge.
Here's
an informative article on bahiagrass control by our local horticultural
extension specialist.
If you're concerned that bahiagrass is so widespread in your lawn
that once it's dead your lawn will be bare, don't worry. In most cases,
other grass is beneath the bahiagrasss just waiting for an opportunity
to thrive. If your lawn does need reseeding
after the bahiagrass is dead, then I can provide that service.
